Tell us about your GLDN journey so far
I saw Gldn group advertised on Instagram and was in a place in my life where I wanted to connect and be around fellow strong, inspiring black women with similar interests and forever growing self love for themselves and others. When attending the first Gldn group session in December 2018, I did not know what to expect but received more love, support, friendship and appreciation then I could ever imagine.
Tell us about your purpose, passion and /or brand
My purpose is to create thought provoking and soul connecting art which showcases the black community and the natural elements of the world in a positive perspective. I also wanted to show that black art should be inclusive and should portray a positive representation of the black community, for the black community and the world in general. This is my passion and my purpose of life to tell stories and inspire people through painting. I have been very creative since a child but decided to pursue being an artist as a career since 2018 as no matter what I did in life, it never gave me the love that painting does.
My website will be live by the end of March 2020 latest but for now you can connect with me on my Instagram – @Soyshem_arts@outlook.com
(Update: SoyShem’s website is now live and can be found here: www.soyshemarts.com)
I sell prints of all my paintings and a few originals too.
What would your GLDN piece of advice be?
The best advise I can give is to ‘Be you, with love’ which means to be yourself and the best version of yourself while doing the things you love and make you feel that warm fuzzy feeling deep inside
